InDesign CS4 is a robust and easy-to-use page layout application. InDesign is
much more than a "PageMaker replacement" (Adobe has discontinued PageMaker). InDesign is much easier to use, while at the same time is powerful
enough to produce sophisticated magazine and newspaper layouts, as well as
newsletters, brochures, mailers, and any other kind of document you wish to
create.
| The Level 1 workshop introduces InDesign to the new user. Among
the topics to be covered are: |
- Exploring and customizing the InDesign environment
- Creating documents and adding text & graphics
- Importing text from other applications
- Formatting text (characters, paragraphs, and creating & applying styles)
- Threading text frames
- Applying with colors, swatches, and gradients
- Applying fills and strokes
- Arranging, aligning, transforming, and editing objects
- Setting up pages, and managing page elements with layers
- Creating, importing, and formatting tables
- Creating table and cell styles
- Preparing to handoff to commercial printer (pre-flighting &
packaging files)
