| FrontPage News Microsoft has announced that FrontPage 2003 is the final version of
FrontPage (there will be no "FrontPage 2007"). Instead, Microsoft has
released new and much more capable web design software: Microsoft
Expression Web, and has provided an "upgrade path" for those moving from
FrontPage 2003 to Expression Web.
We are no longer offering FrontPage
2003 workshops, but will be offering
Expression Web workshops.
Current FrontPage users who may be contemplating the switch to
Expression Web (or other web design programs such as Dreamweaver) should
be aware that:
- Expression Web can directly open any FrontPage web site, and
all functionality on any FrontPage-created web pages is
preserved in Expression Web. Some "non-standard"
(proprietary) functions, including "web bots", and FrontPage
themes, cannot be created or updated by Expression Web, but will
be preserved.
- Expression Web's appearance and user interface will be very
familiar looking to former FrontPage users, making it much
easier to make the transition to Expression Web than to other
web design programs (such as Dreamweaver).
- In a May 2007 review of web design programs by PC
Magazine, Microsoft Expression Web was selected for the
magazine's "Editors' Choice" award, edging out Dreamweaver CS3,
which came in second.
- FAST3 is currently offering both Level 1 and Level 2
workshops on
Microsoft Expression Web.
