Introduction to ComputersSome of us might still be a little uncomfortable when it comes to computers. We know how to turn a computer on, how to surf the Internet (maybe), and how to write a short letter or memo on a word processor. But that’s about it—we have to ask for help when something goes wrong. In this 2-hour workshop we’ll take a good look at a computer from the front, back, and even inside. We’ll look at the different categories of computer hardware devices , and examine processing devices, such as CPU and memory. We’ll examine input devices, such as the keyboard and mouse; output devices, such as the monitor and printer; and storage devices, such as hard drives, CD-ROM drives and flash drives. We will get a broad overview of the various types of software, including operating systems. We will learn how to manage windows and programs on the screen. And finally, we’ll look at basic internet browsing.
Computer BasicsIn this self-guided, self-paced lab you can brush up on your computer skills such as typing, windows, basic word processing and spreadsheets.
